The kids got to go to Sea Fair again this year. The Blue Angels performed their insane maneuvers, while Elliot and Lia stared with hands over their ears.

Bob and Rachael flew up from L.A. for a nice three-day weekend. The weather obliged beautifully, and we spent lots of time on the lake and in the hot tub. We took Elliot fishing and he got to reel in his first fish! A yellow perch, right off our lake! Since his jaw was injured and we couldn't release him, we took it home and made fish tacos with avocado and lime! Freaking awesome!

Sooo... after some prepping and a lot of shopping, we were finally ready to take the kids on their first camping trip!

We'd done some homework, and it looked like the Lake Wenatchee area was a great place to go. It's only a two-hour drive from the house, and since it's in Easter Washington, the weather is a little more predictable (dry) in summer time.

We brought the boat with us, strapped to the roof of the 4Runner. The electric motor got us all around Fish Lake, until it started to die. Lucky for us the boat has oars. I'm trying to talk Nicole into a nice 9hp outboard.

The camping trip was awesome, and the kids didn't want to come home. We'll see if we can bring Ross and Chris next time!

The C130 makes some sketchy turns over the yachts at Sea Fair 2011.

They fly right over our house about this high, in this formation.

Crazy vapor trails...

We bought a tube for towing Elliot around the lake. Even though we're barely pushing 4 mph, he loves it!

Whooosh!

Whatcha want, Dad.

Thanks to bob who hooked him, Elliot reels in his first ever fish!!! A yellow perch!

"I can't believe they took away the giant bowl of raspberries!!!"

At Cora's fairy birthday party, Elliot takes a swing at the pinata.

Here's the 4Runner parked in front of our camp site, with the boat on top! Three ratchet tie-downs did the trick, and we could do 70mph with no movement or shaking from the boat at all.

Elliot tip-toes through the silty lake bed, looking for creatures.

Mom and Elliot explore the wild terrain at the opposite shore of Fish Lake.

After a big day on the lake, the first mate is too tired to man his post, and crashes out.

"Hand me a beer, darlin'! I need some energy to row us all those miles back to the shore!"

Back at the campsite, the tired crew is still asleep...

Here's a couple of Blue Angels flying past each other just above the decks of some of Seattle's wealthiest. Must be a nice view from that big boat on the right.

On of the planes screams over our heads. Lia covered her ears most of the time, which was probably a good thing. Next time I'll remember the earplugs for them.

Bob and Rachael frolic in the relatively warm waters of our lake.

Elliot and Bob play in the lake.

Lia dares to walk up to her knees, a new record!

Elliot tries not to look handsome in his new, bigger life vest

Jeez, he's getting so big...

Cora opens presents at her fairy birthday party.

Elliot inspects our new tent... "Yep, it's big enough!"

"Are we too dirty to play in the tent, Mom?"

The boat sits quietly at the edge of Fish Lake. The campground area is at the other side in the distance.

Nicole demonstrates some serious balance skillz.

Another crew member succumbs to exhaustion. We're down to only two!

"Hey dude, come bring me a beer, I need some energy to sit on this log!"

Elliot explores the big old log on the shore of Lake Wenatchee.

"The sky's so blue, I can almost touch it!"
